[Motherboard]My computer has been crashing frequently recently, and it seems to be caused by overheating. How can I solve the problem?
If your computer is overheating and was recently assembled, you can refer to the following tips that may help resolve your issue:
- Check the fan/heat sink. Are they correctly installed?
- Are the fan pins and clips pushed into the correct positions, and is the heat sink securely attached to the slot/motherboard?
- Are you using the fan/heat sink recommended for the boxed processor?
- Is there thermal paste applied to the bottom of the heat sink?
- Is airflow obstructed? Move cables or other hardware that may obstruct airflow.
- The number of fans used should not exceed the case requirements; having too many fans can be counterproductive.
- Update Bioses. Confirm that the latest Bioses is being used if needed.
- Use the correct case. The design of the case also affects heat dissipation.
If your computer was previously functioning normally and recently experienced suspected overheating, the following tips may help resolve your issue:
- Check the fan/heat sink.
- Are they damaged?
- Are there any cracks or missing parts on the fan/heat sink body?
- Check if the inserted pins and clips are damaged; reset them to their original positions and reinstall.
- Clear dust from the heat sink.
- If the thermal paste has dried and is easily peeling off, reapply it.
- Are all fans operating normally?
- Check carefully if the fan power is disconnected.
- Are they damaged?
- Loose or damaged cables. Are any hard drive cables loose and obstructing airflow?
- Is airflow obstructed? Move cables or other hardware that may obstruct airflow.
- The number of fans used should not exceed the case requirements; having too many fans can be counterproductive.
